This place is really weird.. In my world, we live in islands up in the sky, and there, everyone has wings. They say that the wings people are born with are gifts according to the strength of their hearts. I don't buy into that crap, but if I did, I'd probably have a really weak heart because I've only got one wing. A lot of people though it was a bad omen. Misfortunate even.
Anyway, my parents died before I can even remember and me and my brother, Fee, was adopted by an older man in Mira (our hometown) and he became our Gramps. He was a wiz with mechanical stuff and whipped me up what's called a "winglet" or a false wing so that I could fly and keep up with the others. I hear my winglet's one of a kind or something.
After that, Fee and I were playing in the nearby forest, the Shrine of Spirits where a lot of other-worldly entities hang out. There was one spirit that singled me out and we formed a "bond" so to speak. He's sort of one with me now and speaks to me in my head, as crazy as that may sound. Sometimes other people around me can hear him too. His name's Acheron.
About two years ago, when I came home one evening, our house was on fire. Both Gramps and Fee were still inside. I tried to go in and find them, get them to safety and all, but it was no use and I only hurt myself in the process. I never believed that it was some sort of "lab explosion" like everyone says.. You see, there was a man from the empire standing there grinning. I'll never forget him.. Giacomo..
